Congregational Worship is central to life in the Spirit at Dahlgren United Methodist Church, and takes many different form. At the moment, in person worship is limited to a single service at 10:00 am.
The first Sunday of the month is Communion Sunday, provided at both services. United Methodists practice open communion. This is the Lord’s table, and all who seek Him with an open heart are welcome to receive.
Joint services combining Contemporary and Traditional music, followed by a lunch and fellowship in the social hall are celebrated periodically.
Children’s Church for ages 3 and up downstairs in the Social Hall starts aboutam. Children who are interested in attending Children’s Church are lead out of the Sanctuary after the pastor has given his “Message for Little Disciples”during the worship service (approximately 20 minutes into the service).
While in Children’s Church, the children sing, learn a Bible story, and engage in creative activities that reinforce the key points of the story. The kids also enjoy a snack together, and on Sundays with communion (the first Sunday of the month) the children are returned to the Sanctuary near the end of the service to join their families in time for communion. The Children’s Church coordinator is April Getty. As with the first worship service, the Nursery is available for children ages 0-3 years during this service, too.
Worship at Dahlgren is not confined to Sundays, but includes celebrations of major events on the Christian Calendar, Wednesday Lenten Services, and joint services with other church are an integral part of DUMC worship.
Music is a significant part of our worship in which all, from the youngest preschoolers to the oldest members participate and contribute their time and talents.
